I cannot rely on three years at Manchester United - Ruben Amorim

Manchester United head coach

United's manager - here being consoled after May's Europa League final defeat - says he is pleased by the co-owner's extended support but underscored that tomorrow is uncertain in soccer.

The Red Devils' boss the Portuguese coach believes it's crucial the investor publicly shared his long-term thoughts - but says nothing is certain about the future in the sport, much less three full years.

Through a conversation with a leading newspaper recently, Sir Jim stated it might require the head coach three years to create substantial change at the Theatre of Dreams.

Emerging in an era when the manager's position has been facing examination in the wake of a lengthy stretch of disappointing results, the comments helped quell a portion of the current stress.

Yet, discussing prior to the centenary clash with historic adversaries Liverpool at the famous stadium, the manager underscored that what comes next is challenging to anticipate in football.

"It's certainly beneficial to hear it but he tells me constantly, periodically with words post fixtures - but you know, I know and Jim knows, that soccer doesn't work that way," he commented.

"The crucial element is the upcoming match. Despite having backers, you cannot manage the next day in football."

CEO Berrada has admitted it has taken far longer for Amorim to adjust to the English top flight after his transfer from Sporting Lisbon during the winter than any person expected.

The Red Devils have secured 10 successes in 34 top-flight fixtures with the Portuguese coach. They are yet to win consecutive league victories and have not ended a fixture schedule during this campaign above ninth position.

The concerning numbers are challenging confidence in the head coach among the United fanbase approaching a stretch of fixtures the side has performed poorly in for the past two seasons.

United's boss commented he doesn't sense the instability internally at the team's practice complex and is insistent nothing compares to the stress he applies to his players - and in certain ways, he would choose Sir Jim not to be trying to establish serenity because he worries the influence it may create on the players.

"It's not only a thing that people talk about, I sense it daily," he stated. "It's truly positive to hear it because it assists our supporters to understand the administration realize it needs some time.

"However simultaneously, I'm not fond of it because it gives a feeling that we possess time to solve problems. I don't desire that sense in our club.

"The expectation I place on the squad or upon myself is significantly greater [versus outside influences]. In the sport, specifically at large organizations, you need to prove yourself every matchday."
